Legendary Long Island Wine Tours

 describe the image

Long Island Wine Country has been around for over three decades and has over 3,000 acres of vines and over 50 producers of world class wines.  The majority of Long Island wineries are located on the North and South Fork of Long Island’s East End.  The climate has ideal conditions for producing high quality wines, where they use age-old techniques combined with state of the art technology.  It has been said that Long Island has the most exciting wine productions with great views and highly praised restaurants.

A tour of Long Island’s wineries is exciting and a special experience since it provides the opportunity to sample award winning wines, enjoy beautiful scenery, and stop for great food along the way.  Even though wine tasting tours have become a more recent phenomenon the East End Long Island wineries have been around for decades, most of them being family owned.  If you decide to spend the night there is a choice of beautiful hotels nearby (Hotel Indigo & Hilton Garden Inn being two of our personal favorites) and activities ranging from sports, leisure and entertainment.

There are a few different ways to plan your wine tours. If you’re going with more than 4 people and if you are taking a limousine you MUST have reservations at each winery you plan on stopping at especially on a weekend.  Many limousine companies on Long Island offer wine tour packages which include your winery admission fee and boxed lunches.  You can also rent a limousine by the hour and plan your own wine tour, in which you pick your own wineries, call to the reservation, and pay each winery separately when you arrive.  For your convenience Legend Limousines has a staff of Special Event Coordinators on staff to help plan your day.  They can set up all of your wine tasting, stops, order your boxed lunch or make reservations either at a restaurant of your choice or a recommended restaurant by our staff.

AMAZING LIMOUSINES

“A limousine (or limo) is a luxury sedan or saloon car, especially one with a lengthened wheelbase or driven by a chauffeur. The chassis of a limousine may have been extended by the manufacturer or by an independent coachbuilder. These are called "stretch" limousines and are traditionally black or white. Limousines are usually liveried vehicles, driven by professional chauffeurs. As the most expensive form of automobile ground transportation, limousines are culturally associated with extreme wealth or power and are commonly cited as examples of conspicuous consumption. Among the less wealthy, limousines are often hired during special events (most commonly weddings and funerals).

While some limousines are owned by individuals, many are owned by governments to transport senior politicians, by large companies to transport executives, and by broadcasters to transport guests. Most stretch limousines, however, operate as livery vehicles, providing upmarket competition to taxicabs. Builders of stretch limousines purchase stock cars from manufacturers and modify them, and most are in the United States and Europe and cater mainly to limousine companies. Few stretch limousines are sold new to private individuals. In addition to luxuries, security features such as armoring and bulletproof glass are available.” - wikipedia

The first Limousine was built in 1902 but the first stretch limousine was built in 1928 in Fort Smith, Arkansas by a coach company named Armbruster.  These limousines where built to transport famous “Big Band” leaders, the band & their equipment.

Now that you the history and what the definition of limousines actually are here are some of the most outrageous limousines there is to offer in the world.

Tips to Planning your wedding!!

You may think limousines are a small part of planning your wedding. Some don’t think to reserve limos until closer to the wedding date.  However it is at that point when they realize that limousines are a major part of the wedding day in order for things to go as smoothly as possible.  If you wait too long your options will be limited.  Plan ahead and reserve your limos early on in your planning process.  Here are some suggestions to ensure your special day go as smooth as possible.

wedding-check-list

Your first priority in planning the perfect day is to determine the location, date, and time of your nuptials. Soon thereafter you should find photographer.  Choosing the right photographer is important not only because they will be with you the entire day but because you are entrusting them to capture every moment of this important event.  These photos will be the lasting memories of your special day.  You and your photographer will determine if there is a need to travel to a separate picture location to take pictures that will be different from where you will be getting dressed the site of the ceremony and reception hall.

Once you have chosen the date, time and locations of your nuptials and have determined with your photographer the location of the photo shoots the next step would be to book your limousines.  Having this entire in place will make it much easier for you to determine the duration you will need to hire the limousines.

Choose the Perfect Limousines Company for your Wedding

Your wedding is a very special day and you want to make sure the limo company you hire is able to deliver the best vehicles and service for your money.

Here are several factors that should be considered when booking limousines service.

  1. Research the companies you are interested in, before you make an appointment to view the cars and speak with a company representative.  Don’t waste your time with a company that has bad reviews.  (To find a limo company checkout local bridal magazines and websites such liweddings.com, weddingwire.com, BBB, LI Bride & Groom, The Knot, etc…)

  2. Check to see if the Limousine Company you are interested specializes in weddings or has a Wedding/Special events coordinator on staff.  These specialists are very valuable as they are especially knowledgeable about the industry and are trained to help you determine, plan and coordinate your limo needs. doc

  3. Get the right vehicle.  If you have a large bridal party the most cost effective plan would be to hire a large SUV limousine or a Party/Limo bus. An additional benefit to choosing one of these is that your bridal party will not be split up and there is plenty of room so they all can enjoy the ride comfortably.  Others may decide that they do not want a bus in their pictures and would prefer a specialty vehicle, (like an Antique Rolls Royce).  This would allow the bride and groom to ride alone, spending some quiet time in between the church pictures and reception.

  4. Know what you are paying for.  When you get a quote from a limousines company or any vendor for that matter, make sure the price includes all taxes and fees.   You do not want any surprises when you pay the deposit or even worse when you go to make the final payment.  Make sure you read all the fine print when signing the contract.

  5. Inquire about any package deals before booking your limo. Many companies offer incentives and/or price discounts for hiring more than one limo for your wedding day.

  6. BOOK EARLY if you want a specialty car or if you saw a company that has a custom vehicle don’t delay the reservation since these cars are in demand and most likely will be booked as your special day draws near.

  7. Compare prices.  Prices between companies vary- sometimes be a lot.  There are many things that factor into why a company will be cheaper than another.  Beware when a company is a lot less expensive especially when booking for your wedding!  There are many things that factors to take into consideration when a limo company gives you a quote.  Some things that make companies cheaper than others, chauffer’s wages, the age of the fleet of cars, ect...  If the limo company has given you much lower quote than other companies it might mean that you will be paying for a driver that isn’t getting paid to take good care of the cars they are providing for your affair are older and/or don’t get regularly repaired and serviced.  Some companies provide more options in the wedding packages that are reflected in the price.  If you are looking for custom and specialty cars you will be paying premium as is the case if you prefer courteous and professional chauffeurs, newer and a well serviced fleet.

  8. See the limousines for yourself.  Go to the limo company’s office to check out the appearance of the cars, the office and meet the staff

  9. Once you have booked your limos for your wedding make sure you keep in touch with the company.  If you make any changes to the original contract email or call the limousines company to make sure they are accommodating the change.

  10. Reconfirm with the limo company the week before your wedding and again the day before to make sure you and the company are all in agreement with the entire plan of arrangements for your wedding day.  Take the time to make your limo preparations in advance to ensure your enjoyment of this very special day so that on your wedding day you can sit back and enjoy the ride!

Party Buses Are The Hottest Limousine Trend!

You hire limousine transportation to get to major events safely, timely and comfortably.  Recently the biggest trend for hiring limousines is Limousines/Party Buses. They are fully equipped with light shows, bars, bathrooms, TV’s, DVD, Ipod connections, CD players, and are more innovative than regular limousines.  The Party/Limo Buses are considered a night club/party on wheels that come in a variety  of sizes ranging from 18-45 passengers.

There are many reasons for choosing a party bus over a stretch limo or SUV. They are more spacious since you can stand up and walk around.  Most of them have bathrooms.  They usually have better sound systems and you can stand up and dance.  It is also more economical if you have a large party and are splitting the cost per person.  Some may even consider renting a party bus as the actual location to have their part.  This can be done in NY if the party bus has a generator.  We can park at any location that is permitted. You do not have to go anywhere in particular- just party on the bus with your friends!

Legend Limousines offers 4 different sized party buses: 20 passengers, 28 passengers, 30 passengers, & 40 passengers!!

There are giant luggage compartments that provide plenty of storage for bags or even extra large coolers. Ground effect lighting surrounds the bus and may be configured to any color the client would like. Step inside the bus and you will be amazed by all of the features. The first thing you notice is the wood floor and finished wood bars and tables. Down the center of the bus are two stainless steel poles, which are easily removed for more intimate gatherings such as weddings and corporate outings. For entertainment, the new 40 passenger bus is state of the art! For lights, there is the fiber optic with twilight effect on the ceiling, color changing fiber optic lighting under the seats to light the floor which clients may set to any color they would like. There are 10 black lights, 10 strobe lights, 4 laser lights, a disco projector light, and 6 static lightning dishes. All of the lighting is further enhanced by a fog machine. It is important to remember that all of these features are individually controlled by the passengers, allowing them to create any type of atmosphere that they desire! Mounted on the rear wall of the bus is a 42inch flat screen television.  Mounted outside the bathroom wall is a 35" flat screen television, and mounted on the interior sides of the bus are an additional 5 televisions-7 televisions in total! These play DVDs, but are also wired to a mobile Satellite system. This bus is also equipped with USB jacks for computer presentations. All things necessary when booking your wedding Luxury Limousines

wedding-check-list

“Limousines are the most common mode of wedding transportation.  You can seat ten or more people comfortably, watch television, serve yourself from the bar, and have a chauffeur at your beck and call.  Add a sunroof and a drunken best man, and you’ve got instant entertainment!  A big, shiny limousine is also impressive enough to instill awe in the occupants of those traveling in regular cars who are sitting next to you in traffic.”

Fleet to hire

The type of fleet you hire all depends on your budget.  If your budget is on the smaller side you may want to make some compromises and hire just one limousine.  However the bride would have to be within 10 minutes of the church.  The limousine will pick up the groom, bring them to the church (since the groom needs to be at the church 30mins before the bride), then go to pick up the bride and deliver her to the church. This vehicle would have to be large enough to bring the bridal party to pictures and also to the  reception location.  If your budget permits, you may want to rent additional limousines, for example a specialty car for the bride and groom, a parent’s car, shuttle buses for the guest to and from the hotel, etc.  You may even want to consider transportation after the reception.

Logistically

If you hired limousines for your guests, bridal party and parents to get to the church or reception, you need to consider  how are they all returning home?  If your budget is tight and you only had one car for the bridal party, arrange for other family members to bring them home.  If you had a more generous budget and booked transportation for everyone to the reception, you will need to consider providing transportation for the return trip back to the hotel or their homes.  It is customary in the business to provide the bride and groom with complimentary transportation after the reception to wherever their final destination may be at the end of the event.

Making reservations

When is the best time to book your limousines?  If you are getting married during peak season (April-October),  you should book sooner rather than later so you have prime selection as opposed to what is “left” on your date.   Also, keep in mind that May & June is also HIgh School Prom season.  It is not uncommon for a limousine to be booked up to a year and a half in advance during peak season.  Typically people book limousines 9-12 months in advance.

Finding the right limo for your special day

When looking for the right limousine company for your special day, start with asking recently married friends or family members for recommendations.  Another good place to start is on wedding websites to see what companies brides are recommending.  Once you have a few limousine company names, always check out the Better Business Bureau to see reviews and ratings.  It is recommended that you find a company that owns its own limousines since they are more likely to keep track of the maintenance of the vehicles.  Another recommendation is to visit the company to see the exact car that you want to book.  While you are there you should  also take note of the of the other vehicles in the lot to see the condition the company keeps their fleet when off the road.  In particular you may want to make sure to notice if  the cars are  modern and up to date, shiny clean and fresh smelling?  In choosing a vehicle for your special day make sure there is enough space in the limousines you are looking at  to comfortably seat the amount of people you need to transport?  You also may want to consider how professional and knowledgeable the staff are and if  they convey that they will cater to your needs?  Lastly, you may also want to ask the company about their drivers.  Does the chauffeur receive any special training especially for weddings and do they wear special attire?

Cost / time

Most limo companies charge by the hour, and depending on how far the garage is from your location will determine if the company will charge you travel time.   Therefore it is in your best interest to pick a company closer to your locations.  Most wedding packages start at 3 hours. At first glance that may appear to be  enough time however you have to take into consideration how far all of the locations that you need to get to  are from one another.  Another consideration  is if  there is a long break between church and reception and your picture location with your photographer.  Most weddings encompass 3-5 hours worth of limousine service.  Before you book with the limo company you may want to find out if  there are any other details that you desire that are included in the package price and what (if any) may be the extra fees.   For example, does the wedding package come with a runner for the church? Is champagne and a fully stocked bar provided in the cars?   Is there a Red carpet roll out & tuxedo attired chauffeur?

Speaking of contract

Once you choose which limousine company best fits your needs get all the details of their rules, regulations and contract in fine print. Ask lots of questions as you don’t want to be thrown for a loop the day of your wedding because  you did not read all the small print.  The contract should state what limousine you will be getting for the date of your wedding and for the exact amount of time you reserved it for.  Inquire about what happens if the car you ordered is unable to make it to your wedding for any reasons.   Would you be entitled to an upgrade at no extra charge or will they refund some money back to you?  One last tip it is to make sure you inquire about any over time rates should the need arise.   Keep in mind that these rates are usually very high to help you and your party stay on schedule.   It would be more cost effective for you to purchase a longer package  before your wedding date so that you can savor each moment as your wedding day dreams unfurl.
